2023 Howard County Council Legislation
Columbia Democratic Club supports CB11-2023, an act amending the Howard County Code to establish certain processes for certain audits by the Howard County Auditor’s Office and generally relating to the Howard County Auditor’s Office. This act, sponsored by Councilmembers Opel Jones and Christiana Rigby, is intended to address issues stemming from the recent Howard County library investigation by the county auditor. In addition, CDC has adopted a statement in support of the library system and HCLS President and CEO Tonya Aikens and calling for the removal of the county auditor.
Columbia Democratic Club supports CB5-2023, an act requiring the Howard County Executive to report to the County Council with recommendations about changes to the Howard County Building Code that would be needed to require all-electric buildings. CB5 was passed on March 6, 2023.
